Under the General Data Protection Regulations 2018 you may request a copy of personal information held about you by this website's email newsletter programme. A small fee will be payable. Provision of Service

To enable the Care Advice Centre to provide a service to you, it is necessary to collect personal information from you and from third parties. Prior to contacting third parties for information, you will be asked to complete a 'Consent to Information Sharing' form. If you are unable to give consent due to a lack of capacity (Mental Capacity Act 2005) your advocate can provide this consent in your best interests.

 

Sources of third party information may be:

 

  • A family member, or someone else acting on your behalf.
  • Doctors, other clinicians and health-care professionals.
  • Solicitors.
  • Financial advisors.

 

Only relevant information required to complete the service requested will be gathered by The Care Advice Centre. We'll ensure that the information collected and stored is:

 

  • As required to do the job.
  • Accurate and up-to-date.
  • Only used for the purpose intended.

 

Your personal information will only used during the time that the Care Advice Centre is providing the agreed service to the you. All information is stored securely during this time. Your personal information will not be shared with any other companies. Once The Care Advice Centre has ended their support to the client, we retain your information for up to 7 years in line with Local Authority retention of information. This is to allow for further support services within this time and provision of information to the courts if required.

 

The Care Advice Centre has an obligation to alert the relevant Local Authority if they have a Safeguarding Concern regarding a persons' well-being. In these circumstances your personal information would be shared with the Local Authority (see Safeguarding Adults Policy for further information). There may be some circumstances where the Care Advice Centre will be required to share personal information with the police and other law enforcement agencies to help them to perform their duties. Or with others if we have to do this by law or under a court order.
